Workshops

From 2012:

ELECTRONIC AWAKENING – Documentary screening with Q&A session afterwards

In Electronic Awakening, director Andrew Johner lifts the veil on an underground spiritual movement that has developed within electronic music cultures worldwide. This close encounter with the mysticism of rave questions the origin of religion, and offers insight into future of man’s spirituality. It investigates this culture’s significance to the prophecies of 2012, how this bizarre and sacral relationship to electronic music has evolved the group overtime, and where it all seems to be leading them…

DMT- THE SPIRIT MOLECULE – Documentary Screening

The Spirit Molecule investigates dimethyltryptamine (DMT), an endogenous psychoactive compound, which exists in humans as well as in numerous species of plants and animals. The feature-length documentary traces Dr. Rick Strassman’s government sanctioned human DMT research and its many trials, tribulations, achievements, and inconceivable realizations. This includes looking deeper into the intense psychedelic experience that DMT causes when consumed, and examining DMT’s scientific, spiritual, and cultural relevance. Ultimately, The Spirit Molecule explores the connections between cutting-edge neuroscience, quantum physics, and human spirituality.

Inside the Crop Circle Mystery http://CropCircleMovie.com is an award-winning feature documentary about the ever-evolving crop circle phenomenon, made by someone central to the goings on. It was shot in southern England, where power centers like Avebury and Stonehenge provide an ancient backdrop for this enigma of our time. The film got a very good review in the NY Times http://tinyurl.com/7chal9m, the first time the paper has mentioned crop circles in decades! Music Production and Performance using Ableton Live with VESPERS (certified Ableton trainer clinic)
Vesper, and Vocalist Kelsey Grant

This is a specially designed workshop, catering to the festival community.  We cover how to construct rhythms from a palette of electronic and organic sounds (some of which will be recorded live at the workshop), and how to design bass sounds that dance around the beats.  Once we have the foundation of a song down, we’ll experiment jamming with live instruments and synths over top and using Ableton’s realtime looping and glitching tools to create a hypnotic soundscape.  The intention for this workshop is to expand the musical horizons of the participants and co-create a beautiful piece of music. Here is a video of people who’ve attended my workshops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ev7QgwJk3o

Rites of Passage, for resilient community and individuals.
Sobey Wing

Rite of passage have been a way of consciously marking transitions using ceremonial rites in cultures around the world. By doing this the community is bound together tighter, people find their purpose easier, heal trauma, and locate mentors and both individual and community are better able to thrive as a number of examples of benefits. These rites have been weakening and disappearing for the past 200 years and now it is resurfacing as people consciously or unconsciously are finding ways to shift from one stage of life to another. In this workshop we will examine the healthy and the unhealthy ways that this is happening. We will look at how to engage in contemporary rites of passage while drawing from the wisdom of the past. The role of dance culture as a transition from youth to adulthood and mature adulthood will also be discussed.

Love Sex Intelligence

Sacred Economics
Matt Rix

Money as it exists today is the very antithesis of the sacred. Collectively we have weaved a story that empowers money’s growth to unheard of levels and stockpiles it into the hands of a few, all the while feeding a giant that violates fundamental natural laws. It is in complete dissonance with our loving instincts when internal impulses toward generosity are dissipated by the thought, “I can’t afford to”. Is it possible to re-define our agreements about money so as to better connect our gifts with our needs – to bring this tool into resonance with our hearts?

There is no doubt that the insatiable greed of money is destroying the Earth as we empty the oceans, clear-cut the forests, strip the soil, and wipe out species all in the name of profit. Fortunately, the money system as we have known it is breaking down. Inspired by the work of Charles Eisenstein, we will explore the collectively evolving paradigms as we shift from separation to connection, the forces driving the present collapse, the new money solutions being created to embody the emerging stories, and how we can individually and collectively contribute to it.

The current crises gift us a beautiful window to re-connect with one another, to build a sense of community, and to co-create a loving world that gives every human being the opportunity to fully explore their gifts. It will consist of a presentation of the material outlined in the description and will also incorporate a practical, hands-on activity (gift circle) with the intention of providing tools for the audience to take home and implement themselves. :)

Languaging the Magic Mushroom
James W Jesso

The workshop I would like to present addresses the underlying mechanisms of psilocybin mushrooms that lead to psycho-spiritual maturation and perspectives on their responsible use as sacred medicine.
Psilocybin Mushrooms provide one the opportunity to go on a great journey, a journey of miraculous perceptions and paradigm-bending ideas.  Yet often the true significance is missed and many of the experiences stimulated by the “magic” mushroom are confusing and end up being placed into a category of your memory reserved for absurdity and often omitted from your daily life and self-image.

This workshop discusses the manner in which psilocybin mushrooms works in conjunction with your subconscious to create an infinitely unique experience that shines light on whatever psycho-spiritual challenges you are facing at that time and how to we can learn from it. I present a framework that will help people to work with their own experiences. I also create a safe space within this workshop where people can feel comfortable expressing themselves and sharing their stories
