JayWho?

Who is Jay Who? At first glance he is simply a producer/beat maker/rapper from Chicago. But delve a little deeper and you see someone you may already know. Jay Who? is that guy. The guy in everyones office. The unappreciated guy on the verge of insanity or walking out the door while giving his higher ups a “piece of his mind”. After 6 years of being kicked and battered inside the grueling battlefield known as corporate America Jay (also known as Jayme Whouligan) chose not to "go postal" and blow up his former place of employment; instead opting to take those experiences and use them as fodder for his music. Giving a voice to Americas working class in an art form where the celebrated individuals are usually “hood stars” and thugs Jay is on a mission to be heard and bring to light the story of the guy next door on the verge of choking his boss and wife.

Equipped with razor sharp wit, comedy, insight, and an Akai MPC 2000 the man also known as Jayme Whouligan brings a new perspective and sound in hip-hop's 808 and Autotune saturated climate. Sampling everything from Rihanna (“Anymore”) to Sara Bareilles (“Breathe Easy”) Jay Who? has proven to be limitless in his production virtues. When asked to describe his production style Jay says “I can literally create a beat from every era and sub-genre of hip-hop, there is nothing that I cant do with an mpc”. Jay proves this statement to be truth on both of his albums where he flawlessly goes from the late 80s Public Enemy style production of “I Bring It” to the early 90s Native Tongue influenced “Tootie” all the way to the new Southern bounce of “Apollo Kreed”. And just as boundless as Jay is on the drum machine he displays numerous lyrical styles and creativity as well on the microphone. Making use of the multiple character/vocal technique (“Without Me”, “Anne McMahon”), storytelling (“Super Hoe”), and multi-pattern rhyme schemes (“The Best”). Jay also prides himself in attacking subjects that most modern day rappers either stray away from or overlook; such as the history of the Jheri curl (“Jheris Kid”) , internet dating (“Computer Luv 2”), and masturbation addiction (“U Need Help”). As you can see its pretty safe to say that Jay Who? is focused on having his named mentioned with hip-hop's greatest lyrical juggernauts.

After creating a light buzz and a growing fan base online with his Shel Silvertein influenced project "Where Da Sidewalk Ends" an album which Jay says “was actually made for his friends and online buddies but somehow ended up on blogs, websites, magazines, and local radio” Jay Who? is back to keep the momentum going and to “turn it up by 100 notches”. Returning not only to please his “accidental” fan base but to make new ones with his latest effort “The Light In Da Addict” a concept album based on porn addiction and addiction as a whole. “Porn is a major part of a lot of peoples lives and it affects us positive and negative so I figured that I would be the first rapper to go in depth about the subject.” With two solid efforts under his belt and a third album set for the fourth quarter (“The Getting Tree” the last of the 3 album series) Jay Who? is definitely setting himself up to be one of most talked about artists.
